Bandslam is a youth oriented musical-romantic comedy film which stars the top-teen stars of today’s generation. Bandslam is all about different teenager of different backgrounds but share the same love to music. The movie is co-produced by Walden Media and Summit Entertainment and directed by Todd Gaff. The movie is set to be released on the big screen on August 14, 2009.

The film was previously titled Will and Rock On but later it was decided to name it Bandslam because the film will feature battle of the bands. It stars Disney Channel superstars Vanessa Anne Hudgens (High School Musical 1, 2 and 3) and Alyson Michalka (Phil of the Future) and they were joined by Gaelan Connell (Chocolat), Scott Porter (Speed Racer) and Lisa Kudrow (Friends). The full-length trailer was released in the internet on March 25, 2009. The movie is based on the book written by Molly Kempf which will be released this July 9, 2009.

Bandslam Synopsis:

When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banks (Michalka) asks new kid in town Will Burton (Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind that is to go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben Wheatley (Porter), at the biggest event of the year, the regional battle of the bands.

Unsure of what he’s getting himself into, Will agrees to help Charlotte’s band, including Bug (Charlie Saxton) and Omar (Tim Jo), eventually expanding it with a crew of like-minded outcasts. . For the first time in his life, Will finds he is uniquely suited to not only participate in something, but to truly make a difference. Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and SA5M (Hudgens, the 5 in SA5M is intentional), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it’s time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or “band together”, face the music and stand up for what they believe in?
