Alice in Wonderland – The Review
Everyone had been raving for this movie since its announcement last year. The anticipation grows more intense when the legendary team up of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp was put into the equation. Everyone, including me, who have read the famous book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There would be curious and excited of how Tim Burton interprets the Lewis Carroll masterpiece.
Last Thursday, February 25, 2010 the Alice in Wonderland launched it’s Royal World Premiere at the Leicester Square Odeon cinema in central London. Mixed commentaries are heard from those who have already watched the movie. Here are some of the reviews:
Review from OK! Magazine (UK)
What’s good?
Alice In Wonderland looks absolutely incredible, especially in 3D. The CGI sets are everything you would expect from Burton and are dripping in his signature creepy imagery.
It’s entirely captivating and watching in 3D helps the adventure come to life. A huge amount of detail has gone into the main characters and their costumes and the CGI is flawless.
Helena Bonham Carter is a delight to watch as the evil Red Queen and Mia Wasikowska makes a perfect Alice.
What’s bad?
So much attention has been spent on the minor details that the storyline feels a little lifeless and rushed. For such an image-heavy film, very little happens and it certainly feels like a lot has been cut from the final edit.
The story, which is built up rather well, isn’t wrapped up neatly and the end feels hurried and messy.
OK! verdict:
This is visually stunning and very captivating, but don’t expect it to match up to all the hype. OK! Magazine rating for Alice in Wonderland 3D is 3.5 out of 5.
And in the review from RottenTomatoes.com, the Alice in Wonderland scores 65% with 22 reviews rated it fresh and 12 reviews rated it as rotten.
Alice in Wonderland is set to release for a wide release on March 5 for UK and US regular theaters and IMAX. You can also watch Alice in Wonderland online.

Alice’s journey starts at the common place of social inadequacy and keeps the track of the character that finds itself in the way of its own faith and finally accepts it. Nothing new.
