The Princess and The Frog Take A Big Leap in the Box Office
The Disney’s first African-American Princess and his Frog Prince hopped to the top of the box office on its official wide release this weekend.
The movie inspired by E.D. Baker novel, The Frog Princess features the African-American princess named Princess Tiana. The Princess and The Frog rakes in an approximate $25 million at the box-office this weekend. It sets the record for the biggest debut for an animated film in December, according to Paul Dergarabedian, president of the box-office division of Hollywood.com.
“The Princess and the Frog” denotes the return of hand-drawn animation for Disney, which currently, had been focusing on movies animated by computer or the CGI.
Taking the second place in the box office is the “The Blind Side” from Warner Bros. The Blind side is heart-warming family drama. The movie took in $15.5 million and represents another major success for star Sandra Bullock, who scored a hit earlier this year with the comedy “The Proposal.”
In third place was ”Invictus,” a Warner Bros. historical drama directed by Clint Eastwood about South African president Nelson Mandela (played by Morgan Freeman) and how he used a rugby team to help bring his post-apartheid nation together. The film, which co-stars Matt Damon, brought in $9 million over the weekend.
As for me, I have been dying to watch The Princess and the Frog Online.
